When looking at apocalyptic-like events within our history, such as the world wars, I’ve been thinking about propaganda to see how people got through these atrocious events. I’m particularly focusing on the lack of food in WW2 and how the ‘Dig for Victory’ campaign made people self-sufficient and also boosted moral. The techniques used in this campaign are very applicable to my own idea. The obvious connection is food, but also the way the propaganda motivates, encourages and creates hope within the population. These tactics will help me to create a convincing advert for this new lifestyle and get people on board with the farm program.
